Use of excess salt in food is considered a threat to life
A study has shown that people who eat extra salt in their food are at a higher risk of premature death from any cause.
In this study of more than 500,000 people, researchers found that people who always added salt to their food were 28 percent more likely to die prematurely than those who did not. There are more.
About three out of every 100 people die prematurely, usually between the ages of 40 and 69.
Now one in 100 extra people who add salt to their food may die at an early age, according to new research measurements.
In the study, published in the European Heart Journal, researchers also calculated how many years were shortened in the lives of those who ate extra salt, compared to those who did not eat much salt.
At age 50, men and women who always added salt to their food lost 2.28 and 1.5 years, respectively.
Chloe McArthur, senior cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, said: “We need a little salt in our diet, but eating too much salt can cause high blood pressure, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.” .
The new research was led by Lu Chi, a professor at the Tulane University School of Public Health in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
